Falcons Week 5 inactives list: Feleipe Franks out vs. Jets

The Atlanta Falcons have released their inactives list for today’s International Series game against the New York Jets in London.

Both starting wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage are out, along with quarterback/tight end Feleipe Franks. Defensive ends Marlon Davidson and John Cominsky will sit this one out as well. Davidson is injured and Cominsky is a healthy scratch for the third week in a row.

Defensive backs Erik Harris and Avery Williams will not play due to injuries, which you can see on the team’s full inactives list below.

With the Falcons reaching deep into their pockets to find receivers in Week 5, rookie tight end Kyle Pitts took advantage of the opportunity and scored his first career touchdown in the first quarter against the Jets.

Following a drive that saw Kyle Pitts score his first career touchdown with the Falcons, tight end Hayden Hurst scored his first of the season. Matt Ryan connected with Hurst for a 17-yard catch and score to give the team a 17-0 lead over the New York Jets in the first half.

Falcons highlights: Jaylinn Hawkins intercepts Jets QB Zach Wilson

On the second play of the Jets’ third possession of the game, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson was picked off by Falcons safety Jaylinn Hawkins on a pass intended for Keelan Cole. This interception marks the first of Hawkins’ career.

However, the Falcons wasted the possession after a Hayden Hurst fumble two plays later gave the ball back to New York. Atlanta currently holds a 17-3 lead over the Jets with two minutes left in the first half. Check out Hawkins’ interception below.

The Falcons were scoreless in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Jets until Mike Davis punched the ball in from the the five-yard line with two minutes remaining. Although Davis was stopped initially, the powerful back forced his way through New York’s defense with an impressive second effort to seal a win for Atlanta in Week 5.

Watch Davis’ touchdown run to make it a 27-17 lead for the Falcons, who would hold on to defeat the Jets, 27-20.

Falcons update preseason schedule, announce joint practices

The Atlanta Falcons’ roster is starting to look very different than it did a year ago. Not only is former league MVP Matt Ryan gone after 14 seasons as the starting quarterback, the Falcons added two new starting wide receivers, multiple edge rushers and a Pro Bowl cornerback.

The NFL released its initial schedule for the 2022 season last week, but there were a few dates that had yet to be announced, including Atlanta’s preseason game against Jacksonville.

The Atlanta Falcons opted to play their starters during Monday night’s preseason game against the New York Jets and it didn’t take long for TE Kyle Pitts to take advantage of the Jets’ backups.

Pitts caught a 52-yard bomb from QB Marcus Mariota on the team’s first offensive play. Rookie QB Desmond Ridder was extremely sharp for the second week in a row, and second-year LB Ade Ogundeji had a nice showing on defense.
